Hostelgia

We danced with joy, for it was time to go home;
With all the assignments, which are now unknown.
Drenched in the happiness and no sorrows owned,
Hardly could I think, these days would be gone.

The 8 pm dinner calls, racing to the dinner hall,
Late leaves were a must for roaming in the dusk.
Getting back to the rooms, with a good night yawn,
Little did I know, these days will be gone.

Late night pizzas to late night pranks,
Sleeping at 10 to sleepless-ten.
Came the morning, to greet my college friends,
Indulged in laughter, thought it never ends.
The grades never sailed, mass bunks never failed.
Those smiles lasted really long,
We never thought of these days to be gone.

  8. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Time is relative. If good time passed away this time will too.

Ecclesiastes. was blessed wisdom by almighty. He was most prominent king of Israel. Read this book you will be enlightened, I am sure.
    Nice poetry. Keep it up.

  9. Instead of “Hostelgia”, it was “Paying Guestelgia” for me.
Who have lived in paying guest setups, will agree with the fact that it has given a bundle of experiences.
Some rules may differ from the hostel 🏨 but the one thing still remains the same that you away from home 🏠 with the family of friends and letting your self involved with strangers. A whole new home in the unknown city. With lots of ups and downs.
We often fought over while it comes to room cleaning, food ordering 🍕 (what to eat❓ and where to eat❔ cause there were lots of confusing options available), where to go on weekends 🌊, one who forgot to turn off light 💡 and fans before leaving the room, that one annoying friend who always disturbs u a lot in the Sunday morning 🌅 while sleeping, but when it comes to fun time we shared that hot cup of tea, cooked a simple yet incredibly delicious meal, sat together to watch an India Pakistan match and even gone out together to celebrate a simple Saturday night.
The moment when you put yourself into the trouble and need help, no one could support you more than those mates. Living with roommates in a  paying guest accommodation gives you an incredible number of life lessons without you even knowing it. These teachings happen in such a subtle manner that it almost seeps into your habit like a drop of water on sand. These are some of the life lessons you learn when staying in PG accommodation. This isn’t enough to define those idiots and the experience as a paying guest, even my hundreds of paragraphs cant describe them🙃. Yesss I badly want that time back once again.

  10. Beautifully narrated all the craziness we did in hostel ….. I always thought about to be mature but when hostel days came I showed my childhoodness without thinking about maturity

  11. It was nice to read your poem I also after years went to the memory lane. College also misses the laughter the shout the mischiefs..,……..
We also miss all our students dear

  12. Even when songs are over, music vibrates in the memory, and in the same way, the familiar vision of the college lobby throbbing with the noises full of life has become everlasting in our minds too.
The nostalgic feelings find nice expression in the poem, and the tricky title is eye catchy. Go on…and I hope to meet the new (poet) Drishti soon, with the same enthusiastic spirit.
