Asked the waves to take me along,
they kissed my feet and left me forlorn.
City lights that shined over the horizon,
Kept me gazing and I was alone.
But the muddy clouds pushed me into sorrow
And I looked for someone whose happiness I could borrow.
And the sound of lashing waves tickled my ears
As I went searching for it for many years
The coconut trees in the dusk light greeted me as they bowed
But the hills stood stiff as if they had vowed
The hail was the one that had made me smile
Like this was the warmth for which I had walked miles.. for which I had walked miles.
